Brighton is a seaside town, 1 hour by train from London. It is a popular destination for English people or tourists. A peaceful & ( more ) sunny place than the center of England. The town is also known for its nightlife, arts scene, shopping & festivals.
If you are a Bohemia, an artist, a peaceful personality.. It is definitely a place to go to visit.
The streets ; There are different districts in Brighton. With somewhere as creative and free spirited as Brighton, there is of course a lot of street art in & around the town, like in “Hove”. But none more so than through the North Laine & the Lanes. The Lanes are narrow streets just south of Pavilion Gardens, between North Street and Prince Albert Street.
If you have not found what you are looking for, there are plenty more places to come across a unique find in the city. So if you want antiques, furniture or interesting old items pop along to the “flea market” at the weekends or on bank holidays. You will find many different things that you always wanted to find or even things you don’t need. But this is the funny part of it.
Situated in Brighton’s cultural quarter, the “Brighton Dome” always has an exciting schedule of events going on. Everything from dance shows, to gigs, to plays & workshops are held at the iconic building.
The Royal Pavilion is remarkable for its exotic oriental appearance both inside and out. Placed in the center of the town, you can’t miss it. It is a beautiful architecture & very good location to walk in the park next to it with the botanic garden.
The colorful huts on the beach at “Hove” not in “Brighton”. A 30 mins walk from the beach in Brighton on a sunny day to discover the little colorful huts is worth it. It is not the same beach & little beach houses than in “Melbourne” in “Australia” but it is still very nice !
The district with “colorful houses” in steep streets are further away from the center of the town, in “Blaker Street”, but communally in the area of “Hanover”.
Pier ; Brighton Pier may seem like a tourist trap, but you can’t not take a visit there at least once. Buy yourself a pint, wander into the arcade, have a stroll & reflect on one of the coolest cities around. Listen to the incessant music of the games around, look at the people winning dolls & loose money. Walk to the end & it gives you a great view looking back on the bohemian beauty.
The beach is a stone one, very nice to walk around & maybe seat on one of the beach’s deckchairs. Go & grab a fish & chips around the beach & relax with the sun on your face ( if you get lucky it is there ! ).
Walk tour ; On the website of “Brighton” – We founded a walking tour for free with volunteer around the town. You can subscribe online for the day & hour, you would like to go to, & how many people. It is easy, simple & very nice to meet people living in this area. You will discover of course the famous part of it but also maybe some new places you didn’t heard about & just the people living there know about it ! So it is worth it to give it a go & discover again this beautiful town.
I loved that town who is rich of culture, poesy, magic, arts, architecture, air, music… Of course, a “Must Do”.
